[FFA] Visiting Lotus Port - A Real-World Experience for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Students

On the afternoon of October 5, 2023, faculty members and students from the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program at Lac Hong University had the opportunity to visit and learn at the LOTUS Port (operated by Bong Sen Joint Stock Company). This event was organized by the Valoma Association.

The visit to the LOTUS Port was an essential part of the training program, providing students with the opportunity to gain insights into the real-world processes and operations of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management industry. The LOTUS Port, one of the largest and most modern ports in the southern region, handles hundreds of thousands of TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) of cargo daily. It serves as an excellent example of how a logistics system at a port operates to meet international transportation and trade demands.

During the tour, students were guided by leading experts in the field of Logistics on how to manage the operations of a seaport. They also had the chance to explore modern equipment and technology used at the port, including quay cranes, storage and cargo management systems, as well as safety inspection procedures.

In addition to the port visit, the event included discussions and knowledge sharing sessions with industry experts in Logistics. They shared insights on the challenges and opportunities in the field, while also offering advice to students on developing the skills and knowledge required for success in the industry.

The Valoma Association organized this event with the aim of creating a bridge between educators and students with businesses and experts in the Logistics field. This connection helps bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world industry practices, contributing to the sustainable development of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management sector in Vietnam.

The visit to the LOTUS Port marked a significant step in enhancing the quality of education and providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management field. It serves as an outstanding example of collaboration between universities, businesses, and industry associations to strengthen the workforce for this crucial sector.
