[FAIE: International Business] Third-Year International Business Students Participate in a Field Trip and Practical Learning at Tan Cang – Cat Lai

On April 18, students of the International Business program at Lac Hong University had the opportunity to participate in a field trip and practical learning session at Tan Cang Cat Lai, one of the most important seaports in Vietnam. The visit was organized to provide students with in-depth insights into transportation processes, logistics operations, and international trade activities that take place daily at the port.

Students of class 22NT111 visited and engaged in practical learning at Tan Cang – Cat Lai.

Accompanying the students were faculty members who provided guidance and support:

• Ms. Văn Thị Bích – Lecturer, International Business program

• Mr. Phạm Minh Tấn – Corporate Relations Officer

From the company side, the student delegation was guided by:

Ms. Thảo shared insights about the operations at Cat Lai Port.

The visit to Tan Cang Cat Lai provided International Business students with valuable knowledge about logistics and cargo transportation. First, students gained a clearer understanding of customs procedures and how relevant authorities operate, enabling them to identify the legal requirements necessary in international trade. Additionally, the trip allowed students to learn about advanced technologies applied in cargo handling at the port, such as automated container loading and unloading systems, which enhance efficiency and reduce waiting time. Students also learned how to calculate logistics costs, including freight charges, warehousing fees, taxes, and other related expenses—knowledge that will be highly practical for their future careers.

Finally, students developed a comprehensive view of Cat Lai Port’s role in Vietnam’s economy, as well as Vietnam’s position in the context of international trade. These experiences not only reinforced theoretical knowledge but also opened up future career opportunities, inspiring students to further pursue and develop their passion in this field.
